Class of 2023

  1. What are you up to now?
I serve as an AmeriCorps Lead for North Carolina Fellow at UNC School of Government, where I support local governments across North Carolina through my work in finance.
  2. What was your favorite part about the Religious Studies Department?
I loved taking courses in UNCG’s Religious Studies department because of the broad range of class topics that I was able to choose from. Because each of the REL professors specialized in a different subject area and brough different experiences to their classrooms, I was able to gain such a wide breadth of knowledge in any area of my choosing. Whether you’re pursuing a career in divinity or simply exploring the study of religion out of curiosity, you have the opportunity to personalize your experience within the department.
  3. Are there are ways in which Religious Studies helps you do what you do now?
My education in religious studies has helped me become a better public servant.  Because of the impact that government has on policy and community engagement, I believe it is not only important, but necessary, for anyone considering work in governance to have a certain level of cultural competency. What I learned in my Religious Studies classes at UNCG helps me in the work I do almost every day!
