Dr. Michael A. Long is a ‘08 graduate of UNCG. He currently serves as the Director of Spiritual Formation at Duke Divinity School in Durham, NC. In this role, he is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the school’s spiritual formation programs, including residential and hybrid programs, master’s and doctoral-level degree programs, and all certificate programs with spiritual formation requirements. He designs and offers a program of retreats for first-year students in collaboration with spiritual formation instructors and leaders.
Prior to serving at Duke, he served as Pastor of Zion Baptist Church of Reidsville for almost fifteen years. Dr. Long also serves as a Staff Chaplain (PRN) at Moses Cone and Wesley Long Hospitals in Greensboro, NC. He maintains a wide scope of relationships with diverse partners and entities throughout the religious, social, political, and academic communities. He is committed to the spiritual and overall wellbeing of persons and fosters an environment of inclusion, conversation, and empowerment.
